Halo Leisure Sports Foundation

We all feel a thrill when we see people from our community compete at the highest level and bring home a medal to prove it. However, 80 per cent of local talented athletes struggle with the cost of training, equipment, travel, nutrition and competition involved in progressing their sporting dream.

That's where the Halo Sport Foundation can help. Set up by Halo Leisure, a registered charity and Social Enterprise, the Foundation aims to give local ambitious able bodied and disabled sportswomen, men and children in the county, crucial support for their future.

It offers thousands of pounds-worth of funding and free training opportunities to local people. It is all about investing in local talent, supporting local athletes and inspiring local communities.

A total of 128 stars of tomorrow are receiving Foundation support this year. With your help we can help even more local talented sports people towards sporting glory. Go to www.halosportfoundation.org.uk (or click on the link to the right of the page) to meet the individuals we are helping in their bid to represent the region and country in their chosen sport and a few words from parents on the real difference Foundation funding is making.

Hawcoat Park Sports and Social Club

Hawcoat Park Sports and Social Club is an independent voluntary organization, (formerly Vickers/BAE Sports Club), who's aim is to encourage active participation by local people of all ages in a wide variety of recreational activities.

Our 15 acre Multi-Sports complex currently delivers facilities for a diverse range of both team and individual sports including Cricket, Rugby, Football, Tennis, Bowls, Table Tennis, Archery, Rifle/Pistol shooting and a Junior Brass Band.

These provide amenities for numerous local sportsmen together with facilitating an extensive and thriving youth policy.

The hall and bar areas provide social premises able to host events ranging from family celebrations to large events like the Keswick to Barrow walk.

The Club faces a new significant challenge since BAE negotiations have resulted in a considerable reduction in their support which now entails total site maintenance becoming the Clubs responsibility. This will require significant additional funding to ensure our sustained existence.

We believe the Club is a vital asset in promoting the health and wellbeing of the local community but we need help to preserve these facilities.

Please help us by supporting this Unity Lottery funding initiative to ensure the clubs future for current and future sporting generations.
