The RNOH is one of the world's leading specialist orthopaedic hospitals, and has been at the cutting edge of orthopaedic care for over 100 years. This is entirely down to the dedication and the expertise of our staff, who operate from a series of 100-year-old buildings and a collection of Portakabins and Nissen huts which date back to the Second World War. Our hospital facilities are old, inefficient and unsuited to modern clinical practice.
However, funding has been secured to replace these old buildings with a new NHS orthopaedic hospital, which will be fully operational by 2016.
This funding will enable the RNOH to build a basic NHS orthopaedic hospital with standard equipment and no enhanced features. However, we want to design and construct a truly world-class, innovative healthcare environment that will bring real improvements in the quality of our care and transform the lives of our patients. In order to achieve this goal, we have launched our Redevelopment Appeal, which aims to raise £15million through support from individual donors, corporate partners, grant-making trusts, and fundraising events.
