By taking part in Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland's (SBH Scotland) Unity Lottery you will be helping us to raise vital funds to improve the quality of life of children, young people and adults affected by spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus and allied conditions.
Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland (SBH Scotland) provide a lifetime commitment of specialist support and information to all those affected by these lifelong, complex disabilities including family members, carers and healthcare professionals. Created in 1965 by parents for parents and their children, over 50 years later we're now a national charity with individuals remaining at the heart of everything we do. SBH Scotland's Support Team work across Scotland to support over 3,500 individuals with a range of services including: a helpline, one-to-one support in homes and schools, combined clinics, support groups, financial advice, play sessions and workshops.
It costs £1million every year to provide our current level of service and with little government funding every donation is vital. Thank you for playing the Unity Lottery.
When a child is first diagnosed it is a very emotional and stressful time for parents and other family members. Parents may feel socially isolated, frustrated and under a great deal of emotional and financial pressure. Families need advice and support to help them come to terms with the initial situation that faces them and learn how to manage in the years ahead. Such support will also be required throughout the child's life and into adulthood, to ensure that all the specialised needs are met.
“Until I contacted SBH Scotland I had never been able to speak to anyone about the problems I was facing and it was a relief to meet others who understood. Over the years when things have been tough, the charity have always provided us with the support we needed.” Pauline O'Malley, an SBH Scotland Mum.
Thank you for your support.
