Yvonne has Brugda’s syndrome, a rare genetic condition that affects the way electrical signals pass through the heart. It can be life-threatening and as the condition is genetic, it has been passed down to one of her daughters and one of her granddaughters.
Royal Papworth Hospital has fitted Yvonne with an I.C.D., her own personal defibrillator which has saved her life on several occasions. Thanks to the care Yvonne has received, she has been able to lead the active lifestyle she loves and spend precious years watching her grandchildren grow.
Yvonne said “Royal Papworth Hospital is doing an amazing job of keeping me alive and the research they do is second to none. Research into heart conditions such as Brugda’s syndrome is so important as it is the only way to move forward and to help eradicate them for future generations to come.”
