Home-Start is a national family support charity helping parents with young children in times of distress and tragedy. Our volunteers support more than 30,000 families in over 300 local communities nationwide every year.
We work at the heart of the family on a one-to-one basis and always for the benefit of the child.
Every child deserves a good start in life - the first five years are vital for their development. Children who are raised in a stable, loving, family environment are much more likely to have positive, healthy futures.
Parents turn to Home-Start for many reasons - poverty, isolation, domestic abuse, drug or alcohol misuse, bereavement or illness are just some. This can sometimes mean a child missing out on the love, routine and stimulation that shapes their future.
Home-Start works because our volunteers work alongside parents to help them cope and make sure they have the skills and strength they need to turn their lives around and give their children the best possible start in life - a home start.
When parents suffer tragedy and hardship, children can suffer for a lifetime. When Amy's big brother was run over and killed, the family came close to breaking point as they all mourned in isolation. Their Home-Start volunteer helped them come through it so they could look to the future again and Amy can get back to enjoying the childhood she deserves.
By playing our lottery you are helping us give families like Amy's the lifeline they need.
