Unity is increasing the minimum player age to 18+. This is to comply with recent recommendations from the Gambling Commission following the release of a government whitepaper.
There will be a consultation process to decide whether it is made law to increase the minimum age limit to 18 from the current age of 16, and although it will take a while for the consultation to be completed and a decision to be made, the Gambling Commission are strongly advising that society lotteries voluntarily increase their minimum age limit to 18.
Therefore, we have made the decision to increase the minimum player age across the whole of Unity to 18+. Many lotteries in Unity have already made this change and set their Unity age limit to 18, but from 16th October 2023 all lotteries running on the Unity platform will increase to 18+.
You will need to upload a copy of the updated game rules to your Gambling Commission e-services portal by 15th September 2023 in preparation for the change taking place on 16th October 2023.
It is important that you upload the game rules under the LCCP notification section of the e-services portal by 15th September to ensure your lottery is fully compliant before the change.
