Child Bereavement UK

Every day in the UK, 111 children are bereaved of their mum or dad, and 21 babies, children and young people die, leaving families devastated by bereavement. The impact of bereavement on children, young people, parents and families cannot be underestimated.

At Child Bereavement UK our aim is for all families to have the support they need when a child grieves or when a child dies. Our Make A Difference Draw will raise vital funds to help make this vision a reality.

When you play, you’ll be helping to ensure that no one affected by child bereavement grieves alone. Thank you.

Family Holiday Charity

Family Holiday Charity helps families get time away together, often for the first time ever. We're here for children who have never seen the sea. For teenagers who can't remember when they last saw mum smile. For parents having to choose between a day out and a pair of school shoes. For young carers, grandparent carers. For families facing illness, isolation, or bereavment.

Holidays open up new possibilities. There's time enough to share a laugh, watch the tide come in, and make happier memories.

When frontline care proffessionals make a referal, we help each family choose the UK holiday they need. It could be a caravan on the coast, a woodland adventure, or a day out at a theme park.

Whatever the weather, if it means time spent together, even a day's holiday helps build relationships, confidence, a stronger sense of community, and hope for the future.

More than 2.2m families in the UK can't get away on holiday. By playing our lottery, you're creating the time and space for mums, dads, carers and children to make lasting memories that make a lifetime of difference for families facing really tough times.

Sands – Saving Babies’ Lives, Supporting Bereaved Families

Together, with your support we will save babies’ lives and support bereaved families.

Currently in the UK, 13 families a day suffer the heartbreak of losing their baby before, during or shortly after birth. And an estimated 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage.

But together, we can make a difference.

By donating, you are helping to transform society and build a world where fewer babies die; a legacy for the memory of every baby who has died and the life of every baby yet to be born.

Sands is determined to save every life we can, and we will make sure that the right care and support is there for every bereaved family, whenever and wherever they need it.

Thank you for helping us be there for every baby and for every family.

SUDEP Action

Founded in 1995 as Epilepsy Bereaved, today SUDEP Action is the only UK charity with specialist expertise in supporting and working alongside anyone bereaved by epilepsy.

The free support service is tailored - led by what the bereaved need and want. Services include ongoing emotional support, counselling, advocacy, information, advice, and involvement in research through The Epilepsy Death Register.

At least 21 people in the UK die each week from epilepsy, and nearly half of these are potentially avoidable with better risk awareness and access to services. Epilepsy deaths can be devastating and traumatic and can leave many unanswered questions.

SUDEP Action work to prevent epilepsy deaths and promote better awareness of epilepsy risks, information and services. Free award-winning safety tools and resources are provided to clinicians, people with epilepsy and their families. Including EpSMon, a free self-monitoring digital app for epilepsy patients, and the SUDEP & Seizure Safety Checklist, a clinical tool supporting epilepsy risk management and discussions. The charity also collaborates with UK and international research teams, focusing on finding the answers to help save lives.

The Lullaby Trust

The Lullaby Trust is a charity that saves babies’ lives and supports bereaved families. Around 4 babies a week still die from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and we are committed to bringing that number down to zero.

Through educating parents on how they can reduce the risk of SIDS and investing over £12 million in research, we have played a key role in reducing the number of babies who die from SIDS by 80%, saving the lives of more than 20,000 babies.

Each year we train thousands of health professionals to support parents in sleeping their baby safely, and reach millions of families with our vital safer sleep advice. We campaign tirelessly to raise awareness of SIDS and ensure our life saving advice reaches all parents.

The Lullaby Trust supports bereaved families, through our helpline and befriending scheme. We work with local healthcare providers to deliver the Care of Next Infant Programme (CONI) which offers a lifeline to bereaved families expecting a new baby.

WAY Widowed and Young

WAY is the only national charity in the UK for people aged 50 or under when their partner died. It’s a peer-to-peer support group operating with a network of volunteers who have been bereaved at a young age themselves, so they understand exactly what other members are going through.

WAY was founded in 1997 and now has more than 3,000 members across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. WAY aims to provide peer-to-peer emotional and practical support to young widowed people married or not, with or without children, whatever their sexual orientation – as they adjust to life after the death of their partner.
