Bliss
About your Good Cause
Bliss is the UK charity that cares for babies born too soon, too small, too sick and their families.
Expectant parents hope for everything to be straightforward in terms of their baby's birth, so when a baby is born early or with health problems, this comes as a shock to their family.
Every day around 225 premature and sick babies in the UK fight for their survival. Prematurity is the most common cause of infant death in the UK. It is almost twice as common as breast cancer, and more than twice as common as prostate cancer, yet remains one of the most poorly resourced areas of the NHS. Shockingly , the UK still has a higher rate of infant mortality than any of it's western-european neighbours.
We give distraught parents of the the sickest and tiniest babies somewhere to turn to for help, advice and support. Through our campaigning work we are fighting on behalf of babies to ensure they have the care they need and deserve. Through funding cutting-edge research projects and our work with doctors and nurses, together we're dedicated to ensuring that more babies survive and are able to reach their full poteal.
52 weeks would help fund the cost of a neonatal nurse attending a Bliss study day, making a real difference to the quality of care babies receive.
· 26 weeks would help pay for the telephone helpline for one day.
· 13 weeks would help pay for 10 Resuscitation DVDs to be distributed to parents whose baby could need immediate life-saving care.
