Save the Skymaster is not just about returning this iconic aeroplane to the skies where she belongs, it is about so much more. It is about reaching out and touching the lives of War Veterans teaching them life skills by working alongside our Engineers. In doing so, they are better equipped to find a job. Not only this, but by working as a team at the Skymaster they are able to recapture the comradeship they once enjoyed in the military whilst giving them a very real purpose in life. Many are feeling lonely and isolated with the pandemic exacerbating this further and Save the Skymaster wants to play a role in their recovery and rehabilitation.
Also - we are giving Engineering students the opportunity to complete their internships which were lost because of the pandemic. There are quite a few Universities interested in participating with us, with Standead Airport College being the main one. The students will be given the opportunity to learn many disciplines including electronics, mechanics and generally getting to grips with the aerospace and aviation industry in a practical way. At Save the Skymaster we aim to focus on the curriculum of these students around the STEM syllabus - Science, Technology, Electronics and Maths.
The Skymaster 56498 has been a decade of hope throughout the decades and it is abundantly clear that her future will mean just this for many others, so vitally needed in these dark and turbulent times. We need you help though to help others and make this a reality.
