Reach Out Plus is a growing charity based in St Albans which works to create opportunities that change people's lives. We support people - especially young people and those with disabilities - to overcome exclusion and discrimination, develop their skills, broaden their experience and achieve their God-given potential.
We provide services for children and young people with disabilities - including learning disabilities/other special needs. We also provide services to young people in London Boroughs or other urban settings disadvantaged by circumstance or personal situation.
We currently do this by providing a range of activities and services based on our small feet of canal boats on the Grand Union Canal, or at our Youth residential centre at Chellington in Bedfordshire.
We are now developing a range of volunteer-based support services to help young people with special needs to gain leisure and development opportunities otherwise denied them (including education and employment). This person-centred programme especially links young volunteers with young people with special needs; it promotes individual life-planning, supports personal choice and enables community involvement.
We currently work across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and with several London Boroughs. We are developing positive links with other major city areas as part of our urban outreach programme.
