Lancaster District Housing Action Service is based at a day centre in Lancaster and provides food, clothing, shower and laundry facilities to those I housing poverty. These services are provided by a small number of staff and many dedicated volunteers, without whom, much of the work wouldn’t be possible.
Nowhere else in the district provides this level of care and we need the support of volunteers and generosity of individuals and organisations.
We help those in housing poverty to sort out some accommodation and furnishings, learn how to handle money and budget and also to find a job, or further their education and training. Helping people to do things for themselves will enable them to blend back into society.
As well as practical support, we are here to listen when nobody else will. We offer a helping hand to people who might be facing difficult times in their lives and strive to help them to gain independence once again.
